I do not think so. Never seen any indication of that sort of work in his career. He was also very professional, and knew the value of personal mark.

But the actual IG 'signature' on even these two pieces differs quite radically! Personally I would never have bought a piece with a felt tipped signature. I would always have doubts.

Mike of Miar Arts gets most of his stock directly from the potters and so it could have been something that Ian added when Mike was collecting because Mike didn't want to take anything unsigned. It reminds of when I used to visit John Maltby and often he signed them with his felt tip once I had selected them.

Makes sense. They both look like they’ve been written in marker pen

I wouldn't have any confidence selling the pierced vase as Ian Gregory unless I could find a similar one with his mark

I have no hesitation to say that it is not by Ian Gregory.
I knew Ian; exhibited his work on several occasions; visited his home/studio a number of times and discussed ceramic, acting and singing careers at length.

I think that's good advice whatever the pot, even if it's by a known maker and correctly marked. In the early days I would buy, say, a Bernard Leach vase because it had a BL and St. Ives seal, even though it was not very good. However, I found that it's not easy or pleasurable to sell such items.
