Lisa Sjukur
Despite the surname, Lisa was born in Jakarta, Indonesia, but moved to London in 1995 to study Graphic Design at Central St. Martin’s. After graduating, she stayed in London, working as a graphic designer for almost twenty years, before try out something more practical and hands-on at the beginning of 2019. That's when she started evening classes to try making pots.
I was very surprised to find that she had only been potting for less than 2 years (Lockdown got in the way) when I exhibited some of her work at a mixed exhibition at the Harlequin Gallery as part of Plumstead Open Studios, which I organise, last September.
Below are a couple of pieces of her work that sold.

Nice pieces. I see she was helping at the Oxford Anagama kiln last year

Re: Lisa Sjukur
Lisa does all of her making and most of her firing at City Lit. here in London, where she was attending 2 days a week last year. Most of her pots are saggar-fired but helping at the Oxford Anagama meant she could wood-fire some work, including the teabowl above.
