Dear Forum

Attached 3 initial pictures of this unusual ceramic sculpture.

Appears to be slab constructed stoneware.  

Hollow with opening to the base.

Bands of earth coloured glazes along with unglazed bands

Base is larger in footprint than rest of object.

Impressed makers mark either “MH” or “HW” to the top of the object but cannot identify maker, origin or era. Small abstract modernist slab constructed sculpture HW or MH mark A5022f10

Height - 11cm
Base - 9cm x 7cm
Top - 7cm x 4cm

I suspect this is probably a vase upside down.
Mark would be on the unglazed base surely?

Quite possible. No signs of use as a vase or candlestick I can see so may have never been used for its proposed function!

Still no nearer on a maker by the way…
