Ann Wrightson, Potter
I came across this forum and saw that a number of people mentioned Ann Wrightson and were asking about her. She was my aunt and sadly died 31 December 2021, having been retired for a few years. I am lucky enough to have a lot of her work and I was very pleased to see how much she is appreciated by others.

She was very talented - obviously I am biased as well as being a proud niece to my late aunt.

Re: Ann Wrightson
Im new to the forum too. I live in Herefordshire, my best friend used to live up the road from Ann. I have long admired her work, but was renovating a house when I last saw her work for sale at Ludlow food festival years ago and couldn’t afford to buy anything.
I’ve recently found two pieces of her work in a charity shop, a beautiful plate with a fish and bird design and a water vessel (although it is labelled in pencil underneath as a rumtopf) with fish on. Both are unfortunately damaged. The plate more so than when I bought it, as my son knocked it out of my hand while giving me a hug on the first night I had it, it was difficult not to be cross, I was very sad!! Anyway, I’ll stick it back together and enjoy it as it is. I’ll post pictures when I’ve repaired it.

Re: Ann Wrightson
I found a potted biography of her in a Suffolk Crafts Society book; undated sadly but no later than 1983. She then had a pottery in North Street, Steeple Bumpstead near Haverhill. It reads
"Ann Wrightson grew up in Berkshire and after leaving school she was apprenticed to a potter for two years before going on to train at the Central School of Arts and Crafts in the 1950s. Soon after this she established her own workshop in Reading where she worked for a number of years before moving to her present workshop in Steeple Bumpstead in 1977"
