Identification of studio pottery, TS mark
Good evening all,
I purchased a lot at auction which consisted of a Svend Bayer signed plate together with a lot of unidentified pottery most of which is by the same potter and has the same marks.
The mark is impressed in a square and at first I thought it was John Shelly JS but on closer examination I have changed my mind.
Most of the pots also have Incised marks for example K6/07 or K10.08.
I have attached two of the footrings with marks and 1 photo of the bowl.
I can send more if it helps.
Many thanks - I have searched JS, TS, IS all without gain - thanks whether you can assist or not!

Re: Identification of studio pottery, TS mark
I suspect they are by a hobby potter. A professional potter would be making dozens every day and just stamp the bowl with their mark; they wouldn’t need to add a date

There was another topic here, on the same mark in 2019. I don't know how to copy the link

Hi PhilosophiaSB
I wouldn’t know how to do it either - I’ll have a look what was it entitled?

I’m pretty useless at this - can you remember what it was listed as?

Re: Identification of studio pottery, TS mark
Hi,
Thanks ever so much - I think there is a very subtle difference with mine probably because I’ve become goggle eyed looking at all of them!!!
The difference I think is at the bottom of the mark. The straight line dissecting the S does not have the little curl. It’s the same on all of mine.
Genuinely thanks though!!
