Seagrove in North Carolina is at the centre of a traditional pottery making region in the USA and this has lead to numerous studio potters working in the area to this day. That includes British born potter, Mark Hewitt.

The Lantern Hill pottery is currently run by Kit Vanderwal.

regarding the use of the bowl , it is for baking apples or potatoes in the oven. Germans have also smth like that. in Romania we have smth similar but bigger - for roasting chickens in the oven.
