I think if it was Poole it would be on a Carter blank. With the numbers, it
maybe one of a set? Maybe for a tiled coffee table or something like that.

I just wish you would change that hideous avatar photo

That avatar is from the Midwich Cuckoos. A brilliant John Wyndham book that has produced so-so films.
The artwork on that tile certainly looks somewhat old fashioned and rather inaccurate in pose. I wonder if it by am amatuer.

John Wyndham wrote some excellent books ,one that always sticks in my mind was The Kraken Wakes, a story that fits in well with the global warming and apocalyptic warnings of today.

Honestly guy look at it it's hideous. If Jesus Christ had painted it I would still tell him it's unpleasant. It's really not nice to look at.
Re: 1950s/1960s Tile, Hand Painted Horse Racing Scene 'The Field'
The 1960 film from which that came was a horror film adaptation of the John Wyndham book. Yes indeed it is a hideous image. But then it is meant to be. It was a horror film when they really made them!

Thanks for the suggestion of Packard & Ord, not a firm that I was familiar with and yes, maybe an amateur work.
As for the avatar, it's taken from the Children of the Damned, a sequel to Village of the Damned. I can't be bothered to change it as I have it for other social media accounts. Now what about DD's Scrooge avatar? Bit creepy although, to be fair, it does look him, trawling the car boots and charity shops of the North Midlands!
