The incised mark within the foot ring is most likely to be a code for the stoneware mix used and so a trial piece.
I have seen other pots with miscellaneous brushwork and no individual potter's mark. I have assumed that it is apprentices being allowed to practise brushwork.

Thanks SP - I thought the 3:1 was indicative of it being some form of a trial and I suppose the decoration would have been included to see the entire result. Pretty much confirms what I thought but the decoration was that strange I thought it might have been used by someone.
I will post another pot which I would appreciate your thoughts on - pretty ordinary but I’m caught between two schools of thought and I like conversing……
