The Posh Scottish auctioneers Modern Made auction at the London Mall Galleries is actually excellent. A good selection of Studio Pottery Several Henderson, Akiko Hirai, Lucie Rie, Emmanuel Cooper and quite a few others.
A large selection of Brendan O'Casey work, and other Newlyn and St Ives paintings. Sculpture, Jewellery, Furniture.... One could peruse this one for a long time!

Re: LYON & TURNBULL Excellent MODERN MADE SALE
I always find their sales interesting ,although they never have a great deal of studio pottery, but like Bonhams it's normally good quality. I am interested in Breon O'Casey's work so it's nice to view a selection, the large Henderson piece also appeals, it shows a little more colour in the number of condition report pics than the catalogue entry, i have already logged in to bid.

Re: LYON & TURNBULL Excellent MODERN MADE SALE
In recent years their sales have had the best selection of any that matches my taste and I think I am going to have to go and view a sales once again.
The auction takes place a few days another auction that contains a book of mine that has a pre-sale estimate of £1000 - £1200. As the book cost me 50p some years ago, it could leave me with some funds to pay with.

Re: LYON & TURNBULL Excellent MODERN MADE SALE
It hasn't sold yet. I was planning to put it on eBay but had no idea of was sort of money it was worth. I was hoping it might reach £100 but emailed a football programme dealer to ask if he might be interested in buying it before doing that.
He was very kind and emailed back to say that he only dealt in individual programmes but he hoped that I didn't mind but he had forwarded my email to a specialist auction house because the bound volume was worth some money.
What a gentleman!!

Newcastle United were 1st Division champions in 1926/27. Any of them there? The Toons have deep pockets nowadays.

The results of the Lyon and Turnbull sale on April 28. No great corkers, and most prices for studio pottery seemed to reflect the somewhat subdued market lately.

Re: LYON & TURNBULL Excellent MODERN MADE SALE
I was just looking through that one! Indeed, a very interesting sale given the Lyon and Turnbull full posh treatment with a view of some items in the Pall Mall gallery, and a special evening sale of of part of the auction.

Re: LYON & TURNBULL Excellent MODERN MADE SALE
Hi Philpot, Yes an evening section with wine no doubt, it will be interesting to see what the Odundo fetches. I have my eye on a couple of pieces in the second day sale but the way prices are going recently i don't hold out much hope, reserves are low but meaningless.
