Hi denbydump, thank you for that and see links on here to potters who were there at the time. Appears she was there 1978-80. Brilliant help as usual! X

Mohamed Hamid jug, with his HA monogram. Trained at Aldermaston then joined Jonathan Chiswell Jones before setting up his own Star Pottery. WA is the Aldermaston Pottery code for Lustre ware

[ Ian - going back that bowl could well be by Laurence McGowan - he used a series of marks after leaving Aldermaston. Blues and greens are also his type of glaze. ]

An interesting entry on the Honiton site. I didn't know ACS worked there for a time.

Aldermaston mug, part of their standard ware. Marked with a 6. on the base.

Is that possibly a 1969/70 date mark ?

Aldermaston jug
I think the mark on the base is a date mark rather than a monogram. Possibly the conjoined triangles for 1994; the rest may be hidden under the glaze.

They did use a generic A for larger cooperative production workThis looks as though it might be a Milk jug or such like from a larger dinner or tea set. I think only Alan Caiger Smith himself used date codes at Akdermaston.

Would make sense. I haven't seen many dates on pieces and alot of assistants' pieces are unmarked standard ware.

An unusual coffee pot, I'm guessing Geoffrey Eastop, the only "E" potter on the list,
though the mark isn't exact. Any comments?

I've been informed by ex-Aldermaston potter, Miranda Thomas, that the W and WA marks are lustre and glaze codes.
She adds that " my Aldermaston mark looks like an AT (the "T" dropping down from the cross over of the "A") At Aldermaston everyone had to include a capital A in their mark."

I see a lot of the lustre pieces markes "10A" what does that mean?

When you say W & WA are glaze codes do you mean relating to how long they should be fired?

Example - I have a piece marked 10A WA 92 (then ACS under)

I think they relate to the particular chemical composition of the glaze or lustre.

Aldermaston potters had to have an A in the monogram, so this is a combination of T and A
