STUDIO POTTERY BOWL CM or MC mark in octagon, MICHAEL CARDEW? Empty STUDIO POTTERY BOWL CM or MC mark in octagon, MICHAEL CARDEW?

This is a vintage and large studio pottery bowl - the monogram is incised to the base and is a letter M inside a large C which is in an Octagon.  This is very similar to Michael Cardew and I did think this at first but the M looks to be a different font than his mark so a bit of a mystery - can anyone help me with this mark?

Not Cardew or Curley, in my opinion. I've come across it before but still a mystery
