Re: Heather Gibson
From Heather's website, "Heather Gibson is a self-taught ceramicist based in North London. Her artworks span from large scale ceramic wall pieces to sculptural hand carved vessels and tableware. Having originally trained in Fine Art Photography at Nottingham Trent University, she now works predominantly in clay". (P.S. I asked her permission).
So much so that she has just started studying for an MA in Ceramics & Glass at the Royal College of Art in London.

Re: Heather Gibson
Below is a teabowl of Heather's that I own that is made using the traditional Japanese technique known as kuri nuki.
It's a carving technique in which a piece is hollowed out from a solid block of clay.
Heather creates the exterior of these pieces by faceting (as below); stretching and even striking the surface with found objects.
The interior is then removed to hollow out and form a vessel.
