Grandma's Hand Blown Amber Bowl
This bowl was my Grandmothers, and I know nothing about it. The bowl measures 9 3/4 inches across
and stands 2 1/4 inches tall. My photos make the bottom look colored. It is the same color throughout.
My limited search indicates the bowl has an open pontil scar. There are numerous air bubbles
throughout the bowl. I can send more photographs if you need them. Just tell me what you want.
Thank you in advance for any information you can share about this bowl.

It might be worth investigating "Blenko centrepiece bowl"
It looks like a shape they used.

Thank you! The information you provided is greatly appreciated. I will now Google search for Blenko glass bowl. I have owned this bowl for over 30 years. I don't know how long my grandma had it before I received it. Does anyone know when a bowl like this one may have been made?

Agreed on the Blenko search. Was just at their factory last week.

Re: Grandma's Hand Blown Amber Bowl
I posted these photos on the Blenko Glass Enthusiasts Facebook site and have not received any replies. I searched the Blenko catalogs I found online with no success. I wonder if this is a Blenko piece.

There are two things here that I haven't seen from a Blenko piece before. One is the thick lip at the rim and two is the striped pattern. Other than that, it looks close to Blenko.

Re: Grandma's Hand Blown Amber Bowl
The striped pattern is a reflection of the lighting and thick lip. The bowl is the same color throughout. The lip is rolled under the top of the bowl. Maybe this was made in the Blenko “Pre-Designer” Period? Perhaps it is not Blenko. I would love to learn more about this bowl. Thanks for your reply.

Re: Grandma's Hand Blown Amber Bowl
The rolled edge and ground pontil makes me think of Frederick Carder era [1903 - 1932] Steuben glass from Corning NY. Also H. P. Sinclair[1904 -1927] glass also from Corning had rolled edges.
The Frederick Carder Steuben Collectors Club Web site might help you identify the bowl as Steuben. The Corning Glass Museum in Corning NY might also be able to help.
Wishing you the best.
