"Elephant's Foot" studio pottery jug - help appreciated.

Have been sitting on this large jug (7" high and 7" maximum body diameter) for quite some time now hoping to be able to identify it's maker.

As you can see there is an impressed mark but illegible.

Any thoughts please?

A clear photo of the base is very useful. It tells a lot about the style and clay used. The mark looks like it might well in the top part of an A. There are a number of potters that use an A of sorts. Where did you buy it? Often pottery is bought not far from where it was made.

I've edited the photo of the mark but I'm not sure it's any clearer.
