Unmarked Black Trinket Box, Portmeirion pottery "Golden lion"

Quite a nice finely made pot which seems fairly nice quality and had me
thinking it was Portmeirion at first but would have thought that would have
been marked right? The black outer has a very white clay underneath bit
like salt glaze clay in a way, Sorry not much help here :(
