What a beautiful piece of glass. sorry can't help further, but i'm sure one of our
experts will recognise it.

This would appear to be a pre-war design from the 1930s when they did Classical and
Art deco designs, by several designers, using engraving and sand blasting.

There seems to be a date 53, so maybe they carried on making them post-war.

Scandi engraved script is hard enough without the scratches on the base!
But part of it maybe the "name" of the design, as well as the designer.

Is there a little more script on the left of the third image, or is that just scratches?

BTW your pix are not displaying properly as they are too large (1024).

I have now come across a very similar design of vase in another book, with almost identical flying birds, from 1951/52, that was by Helena Tynell.

Can we imagine seeing that name, or HT, in the script somewhere?

Most strange, I have so far been unable to find a single image on line
of this style of vase by Riihimaki.

Yes, I think you are correct, 2 designers names, but got there in the end!!

As you know we don't enter into valuations, but the fact I've been unable to
find anything similar on line, implies it's quite a rare piece. An independent
appraisal might be in order.

I have learned something anyway, as I've had to read up on all this!
