Tall Slab Ware Pottery Lamp Base - Hudson - Quantock? Not Identified As Yet
Hello All
Driving me a little up the wall as I have had a cylinder vase with the same design in the past...but that is age for you.
I original thought it may have been a Hudson piece but today I am leaning more towards Quantock despite not having any brown gloss glaze anywhere.
I went through the T's Tremar and Tremaen but it's construction is not slip but slab pottery.
About 14 inches high and no markings I could see, a few lines on the white finished interior around base but just tool marks I believe.
With thanks for any help in advance.

Given the design there are only a limited number of names that come up. Only ever seen small pieces from Louis Hudson. Does not look much like a Rooke style piece. Quantock looks a a strong contender, as you say. But......!
After having a look at Sold lots on the Saleroom. My vote would for Tremaen. They did lots of lamps and some designs look somewhat like this. It also seems there is a lot more of it around.

Thanks Philpot - The trouble being though that their lamps are mould made not hand built and they nearly all have a rounded bottle top style finish to them. A cracking link here - http://tremaen.com/sculptural_bases/page_31.html

Thanks for the superb link! You have a problem then
There are so few potters/potteries that made this type of piece.
Nice problem to have tho!

For once I took the shade as well, it's not vintage but I felt that it really suited the piece and someone had down well matching it up.

Could it be an unusual Broadstairs piece ? They did do arty pieces not their stand are type stuff.

See I went there and had a look yesterday on the old internet, as the colour is very Broadstairs but I only found coil lamp bases. Could well be though.... :0)

I'd vote Quantock. I've a mug with a similar design. I take some pics and add them.

Nice one and thanks. I've had a cylinder with this (lamp) pattern and still trying to find the old information on it.
