South Carolina, or China, or ???
I picked this 13" charmer up in a Florida thrift store and I imagined it was from the famous South Carolina potteries -- but research doesn't show anything like it from that source. The glaze up close has such feathery delicacy I'm reminded of
China. It's quite heavy and the bottom is flat. Anyone have any ideas about it? Thanks MS

It might well be a student or a trained potter that did not continue working. Back in the late 60's and early 70's pottery making was very popular in the alternative society/swinging 60's etc. But most people could not make a living out of it. So a lot of good potters just gave it up.

Always helps to have a photo of the base to check clay and construction. If it’s wire cut then it’s unlikely to be Chinese, and they usually turn the base to leave a foot rim so as not to waste clay.
