Hello All,

Can anyone shed any light on what's driving the bidding up for this collection of pots? None of them are ID'd. The bottle with handle is a Dodd/Malone/Rogers surely(?) and (I think) there's a Barbara Cass pot, too...

Thanks,
Ed

Edit - went for £850 (estimate was £100 - £150)

You forgot Staite Murray, this white pot sold for £500 at Bonhams a number of years ago.

The sort of sleeper that dealers love. Well done Croker! But even so, with a hammer price of £850 and buying costs of say 30%. You are looking at circa £1100 or so. Is William Staite Murray going for such a price to justify that alone?

In general prices aren't mad high for him. But... W&W sold two small WS-M's for £900 the pair in March, and a job lot of 19 items including one WS-M for £1,100. Maak got £1,600 for a jar and £2,600 for a bowl in 2023 and 2022 respectively (and a few other lots for high hundreds) but these seem like the exception.

I didn't buy them philpot , a nice bowl but a bit pricey, i guess the buyer will try and offload the dross to recoup some of the outlay. Prices for Staite Murry are all over the place they can range from a few hundred too five figures for his iconic pots.
