Small French ashtray marked MC Empty Small French ashtray marked MC

Hello all,

This little (just 9cm square) ashtray is handpainted and marked "MC peint à la main (painted by hand)".

Is there anyone here who recognises this work, and do they know what the MC stands for?

My wife bought it at a brocante near Ruffec in the Charente.

MC would be the decorator’s monogram. Looks like they’ve bought a blank from a manufacturer and hand decorated it
