I saw this pot with scraffito designs in an Antiques Arcade in S Oxfordshire yesterday.
A search of the name brings up just the web site of the arcade with
this item listed but no other info. Is this a one off? Geoffrey Fagence G_f_8012

There's a Geoffrey Fagence listed as holding an event at Edith Weston Village Hall, Rutland. Maybe a hobby potter

Thanks Naomi, I guess this is very likely. The Arcade had it priced at £28.

You have to look at how made the item is of course. There were a vast number of hobby potters back then! The top edge is a bit ragged, the bottom a bit messy, and the glazing confused. The problem being with finding items in Antique arcades, is that you are buying full retail with VAT as well. Its rather like  all the antique shows on TV that buy at antique shops and fairs. They hardly eve make a profit, and its usually a large loss!

Thanks philpot, I understand and agree. The Arcade has many cabinets being rented by sellers and obviously gets a cut. I assume the web site is only items they actually have acquired themselves. Recently they had a lovely leaf pattern Liz Teall Jug for only £6-50

The dealers rent the cabinets. So they have to make a profit just to pay the rent. If you are looking for bargains you need to be looking at the everyday auctions by auctioneers across the South. Usually labelled Interiors or suchlike. Or house clearance auctioneers in the more unfahionable towns. Like Southampton, Portsmouth etc. This is where the trade normally buy their stuff. If you are looking for specialist Studio pottery then look for auctioneers Like Mallams, Dreweatt Neate, etc. They all are normally on sites like the Saleroom et al.
As a footnote. In 30 years of religiously looking through antique shops and arcades I only ever found TWO bargains!
