Carol & John Wynne Morris, Conwy Pottery (Wales)
Has the Conwy factory ever come up for discussion on this site? I have several pieces clearly covering quite a span of time. Anyone know much about them? Susie

Re: Carol & John Wynne Morris, Conwy Pottery (Wales)
The silence suggests there hasn't been a discussion before.
I don't really know much, although I feel I ought to as I was born a few miles from there in Wrexham and spent most of my childhood holidays on the North Wales coast. I remember Conway Castle from those times but not the pottery!
Anyhow, it seems to have been started by John Wynne Morris and his wife Carol in 1971 when it was located at 8/9 Castle Street. It disappeared in 1980 but restarted at Tyn-y-Coed Farm in Glan Conwy in 1986, and as far as I know is still going. They produce stoneware and porcelain.
Marks are C, CP or CAZ (Carol?). Pre-1980 marks include JWM or JM variations.
This from Fournier's potters marks book.
Any photos of your pieces?

[img][/img]Hi Gareth
Did get a bit silent... so thanks for info.
For the love of me I cant find the earliest pre 80s piece which was a brownish honey coloured glaze and fairly small and I am pretty sure it was incised ca mark. But cant be sure.
Here are some 80s pieces
- The fifth one is not stamped by looks at home with these. Best Susie
I know my sister also bought some as well.

Conwy pottery?
Could this small pot be from Conwy Pottery? The mark appears to read -----WY POTTERY and Conwy was the only pottery I could think of ending in WY. None of the marks I have traced however look like this, all seem to include impressed CP.All thoughts gratefully received John

Could be tho, as it seems the cp mark is not the only one they used.

That vase is probably by Carol Wayne Adam.

Is this vase by Joanna Constantinides?
I have acquired this vase, glazed in very smooth semi matt, speckled blue green glaze deepening towards the base. There is an impressed narrow band of pattern near the top of the belly and double bands toward the bottom.
It is impressed with a C within a circle on the bottom of one side. Do I dare hope it is by Joanna Constantides?

Conwy
9" jug, molded body with thickly applied floral decoration. 1930s?
There is a circular ink stamp to the base just over 1" in diameter: two concentric circles, I think I can just make out "Pottery" written between them (what a surprise!). The picture shows a darker line through the centre of the mark, but this lies on the seam, so it may just be dirt.

Another style of mark which is not shown on this forum or in Yates-Owen-Fournier-Hazlewood. This mark is simply impressed 'CONWY'.
Stoneware coffee pot or water jug which is 27.5cm tall and when filled would require "Charles Atlas" to lift it.

Conwy Pottery Mug and I think the jug is Conwy, they happened to be in the same box of mixed pottery. Both have a background of a brown/pinkish colour, but slightly different flower designs.
The mug has 'Conwy Pottery' stamp on the base and 'Cp' stamped at the base of the handle. The jug has no marks.

Blue pot, painted floral decoration, faint circle mark - Conwy Pottery
I know that I know this very faint mark but for the life of me I can't put my finger on it. I keep thinking 'Rye, Cinque Ports' but the pot doesn't look like any CP that I've seen.
The mark is two concentric circles with words running around the band between them, and possibly something else in the centre.
I know I'll kick myself when the answer comes.
