Chinese Famille rose?
Hi,
I’d like some help identifying this bowl please!
I think it is Chinese Famille rose , possibly
a punch bowl?
There are quite a few inclusions in the porcelain
body to the base and inside the bowl, the gilding and decoration are a bit worn in places.
The glaze has a distinct green tinge ( perhaps not easily seen in
the pics) and the bowl rim and foot rim
have a definite straw colour.
I’m
thinking late 18th Century punch bowl , or have I got it all
wrong??
Thanks!

Re: Chinese Famille rose?
Certainly Famille Rose. Could be 18thC but depends on whether the yellow is 18thC or one of the new glazes developed in the latter half of the 19thC

Thanks for the info!
Is there any way to find out which yellow it might be?

Re: Chinese Famille rose?
You’d have to compare the way the faces are drawn and the glaze colours with dated examples. The newer yellows were brighter than the old ones. It’s not easy
