Looks like an S in the mark. Possibly John Solly.

They’re both fairly small, Dan. Bigger about 5”.
The Pottery Studio website has got a few John Solly pieces with marks, mostly Maidstone ones. There’s a couple with similarish patterns to these so seems a good possibility. Are you seeing a JS mark, Naomi?

I could obviously be wrong.
But I don't think it's John Solly - from the ones I've seen.
His items tend to be well marked. The stamped marks I've seen are not in that long oblong shape.
Also, I've not seen any of his work with that heavily 'ribbed' base.

Thanks Celtic. As one of the dishes is marked I’m sure another will turn up with a clearer mark sometime if I put them away a while. I’ve only had a small look but Solly seems to have done some quite varied work - some of it rather nice.
