Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip: Can anyone identify the maker please
Hello All,
I work for a hospice charity and this item was donated a couple of weeks ago. It came in a wedgewood box, but not a good fit, so I asked wedgewood and they say it is not one of theirs.
All an interrnet search turned up was a commissioned bronze which is identical (although larger) by the sculptor Neil Welch. I have emailed his website but so far no response.
I think the numbers on the bottom are probably a date, which would tie in with it being possibly a prototype/maquette for the bronze. Anyhow, does anyone recognise it?

Is it plaster? It could be a maquette but if they’re using the lost wax process it to make the bronze figures would be the wrong size. Maybe they were going to produce a set of slip moulded ceramic pieces but the order was cancelled

I wonder if it was the 6oth or 70th anniversary of their marriage? They are both looking rather old. 2/8/16 might possibly the date of the maquette being made?

It looks virtually identical to a Royal Doulton Platinum wedding anniversary figure.

It's hard to be certain as the figures are painted and this one isn't.
But if it's not the same, they were both produced from the same original image.

Having a really close look, I don't think these are identical. I think I see some subtle differences.
But clearly both produced using the same official photo, for the same anniversary. So that may offer some help.

Thank you, I had a look and yes, slightly different but something to go on. I appreciate your time.
