I think is Powell Pottery, the early Llangollen Pottery set up by Rhys and Jean Powell

Thanks Naomi,
I’ve read right through the Powell / Llangollen thread now so I’m on the lookout for a whole range of marks and pots, especially a whale!

Re: Studio slipware eggcup PP mark - Powell, Llangollen Pottery
A general query about this style of egg-cup, with built-in saucer: does this design have a name? Did they originate in a particular place/time? My mum produced these at her pottery in Mull from the early 1950s, but I don't know where she got the idea from. I'd be interested to know of other potters who made egg-cups in this style, particularly in the 1950s or earlier...
Any info gratefully appreciated!
Cheers
John

I don’t know their origin. A lot of potters were making them in the 60s-70s. I don’t know where the original idea came from; maybe an adaption of the candlestick, or when toast “soldiers” became popular with boiled eggs
