Lino cut - Madonna & Child. Artist?

Dear all,

Initial photos of a lino cut mounted on wood. Size approx 5” by 4”.

No signature but the word British” is stencilled on the block edge (picture to follow).

Would love the forums thoughts on possible candidates for the artist and period.

This piece has echo's of Eric Gill's work but his style was much copied.
