Studio pottery Vase with Mystery JW mark?

Hi  - I recently found this interesting vase,
I have tried to find the makers from the incised mark on the base but on line have drawn a blank.
I purchased it from a lady who said her mum had bought it many years ago so its certainly vintage,
height 24 cm - diameter 19 cm

Just hoping an expert on here may be able to help with an ID on the vase which is heavy and well made.

WJ or JW mark? Possibly a '69 date. Reminds me of Briglin pottery but I don't recognise the mark
