Dominic Winter, Studio Pottery and Bernard Leach on paper, 17 October
Dear All,
As some of you may know I work at Dominic Winter Auctioneers in Gloucestershire. I have been slowly increasing our intake of pots, and our forthcoming sale on 17 October (Historic Textiles & Antiques, 20th Century Studio Pottery) sees about 70 lots of pots and also five original Bernard Leach works on paper.
I've sourced a good selection of your favourite mid-range potters, including Batterham, Bernard Leach (a small early dish as well as works on paper), Janet Leach, David Leach, Lee Kang-Hyo, Jim Malone, Kate Malone, Svend Bayer, Trevor Corser, Elspeth Owen, Phil Rogers, etc., plus Mike Dodd - the latter includes his very earliest pots made whilst a student at Bryanston School.
If you have any questions do fire me a message (edmund@dominicwinter.co.uk). Me and DW are actively increasing our pots so do bear me in mind should you wish to consign.

Pots begin at lot 374
Best,

Re: Dominic Winter, Studio Pottery and Bernard Leach on paper, 17 October
Some interesting pieces. Congratulations!
The owner of the very large Richard Batterham might well take a haircut. The hammer price in Wooley's was £2500. Well over £3000 with commissions etc.
One thing I would criticise is the lack of photos. Us collectors like a lot of photos. Especially the marks!

Thanks, Philpot. Noted re. images - there is always room for improvement!
The large RB bottle is magnificent, and in perfect condition. It will almost certainly be a lower hammer now the flurry after RB’s death has subsided a bit, and (most of) his estate has been sold at W&W.
I’m told the final few RB pots at W&W were ones he ‘hadn’t quite finished with’, likely because they were in daily use or to be referred to for future pieces. This adds another dimension to them for me as a fan and collector.

hi, Re. lot 444 De Morgan vase i think you may have the size wrong as according to Gaunt it should be 7.5 inches, we once owned a larger version of this pattern also by 'Joe Juster.' Nice to see another room taking an interest in studio pottery and i will follow with interest.

Hi Croker. Thanks for the spot. I’ll investigate this tomorrow and correct. To be honest this was catalogued a long, long time ago and for various reasons is only for sale now.
Glad you’ll follow the pots, I’m hoping to keep increasing intake as sales progress.
