This is actually a decanter with a stopper.

Re: Blue glass moulded decanter & stopper for ID
It *looks* like a design by Helena Tynell for Riihimaen Lasi Oy (Finland) late 60s/early 70s maybe a variation on the Emma vase although that stopper definitely doesn't look right to me ...
Can you give us some more info please - what size is it? What is the stopper part that goes into the neck made of? Show us a base photo - that sort of thing is essential in ID requests.

12" 31cm High, the stopper as pictured has a cheap looking plastic part that is falling apart. It does mean that is has been around for a while. There are a lot of inclusions in the glass and it is heavy glass. I'm finding it amazing that all of the glass I posted is European as I am in Canada and expected most of this to be American.

hmmmm that stopper with the plastic definitely ISN'T right for Riihimaki - there's no way they've have used a cheap plastic stopper. Either the stopper is a totally unconnected addition or, this is a copy of the Emma vase - not really sure at the moment. A lot of Italian glass makers used plastic stoppers like that but I'm not aware of them copying any of Helena Tynell's designs.
It's a bit of a mystery really... I'll check in some of my books tomorrow and see if there's a decanter version with or without a stopper and check dimensions etc.

I've always thought these to be Empoli copies - they crop up on eBay every now and then with these exact same stoppers.
Re: Blue glass moulded decanter & stopper for ID
An Italian (Empoli) copy it is then - what cheeky beggars!

Well the Empoli attribution is just my own opinion based on the overall quality and that there are a few verifiably Empolian designs that employ very very similar cube-shaped stoppers (plastic plug included).

You're far too modest Nic - I have every faith in your suggestions and they usually turn out right. I'd already made the Italian connection after seeing the stopper so you've confirmed what I was beginning to think anyway.

All very interesting. Did Riihimaki ever make decanters?

Yes but not necessarily in this design - if you Google Emma Tamara Aladin you should see the vase that your decanter has been quite obviously copied from. The stopper really was the giveaway here because basically no glass makers worth their salt would use a plastic end like that.

We have discussed these on GMB and they are Italian copies. I was caught out with a Riihimaen copy. The clue is that the designs have been adapted into decanters. There are a fair few designs copied. GMB discussion centred around Kaappikello and Stella Polaris copies.
