Does anyone recognise the design on the border?  I'm sure I have another piece with it somewhere, so this would kill two unknowns at once (when the other one turns up again of course)

Here's my Eeles pot, a fabulous lustre vase by Benjamin (b1959). Not sure what the ink marks on the base mean. Bought from Oxford Ceramics Gallery. 28.4cm (height)

Base mark has a little damage so can't quite make it out .

Simon Eeles , with out a doubt and quite a good one as well.

I love there work especialy Davids pots, stick the pic in the Eeles Forum  

Picked these up today at a boot sale. One has a label but the marks on both appear to be partly obliterated by glaze. Hope they are right - I love them.

My latest buys from the Auction House, these 2 lovely David Eeles Slipware Trays ,dating from the mid 60's , the larger one measures a stonking 16" by 11.5".

David stopped making slipware in 1965 so could be up to the mid 1960s or earlier (from 1955).

They might be pieces he made at The Shepherds Well Pottery, Hampstead London, before moving to Dorset in 1961

Nicely made little vase, with DE stamp. Looked at Derek Emms and David Eeles but neither fit this one.

It would not surprise me if it were David Eeles to be honest.

i've sent Eeles Pottery an e-mail, hope fully they'll get back in touch.

Made between 1955 - 62 apparently




I spoke to his son Simon in the summer. David had quite a serious accident earlier last year  and I'm not sure if he is still throwing or only decorating

Seen a few more of his slipware birds and now pretty sure it's by David Eeles. The back is unusual, though. I suspect he's used a standard plate, which may be why it's unmarked.

Distinctive zigzag pattern on the base.

This tea bowl has scraffito decoration on a stoneware body. The mark looks like SB, SE or GS . I would be grateful for any thoughts you may have on the potter.

I'm not an expert on the Eeles family but think it could be by Simon.

I was thinking it might be Simon Eeles and llike you know am no expert on the family. However I do have a couple of David Eeles and last year bought a couple of pieces by Simon when I was in Somerset. I've never seen images of anything of his in the way this is decorated, the clay looks different and has a distinctive spiral finish to the base.
I may end up contacting Simon to see if it is his
