Stanley R Boardman
Not the "comedian" from Liverpool. He was an artist from Yorkshire who I met as I was growing up. I am interested in getting some of his art but I am unable to find anything by him on the internet.
Any information please?

Stanley Boardman. Keighley
I have only just found this forum, so sorry that this is all a bit late.
I am Stan's daughter and am delighted that you are interested in his work. His 1920's boy collection is probably the best known ,I have what is left of it. I would welcome dialogue about my Dad.

Re: Stanley R Boardman
How can I help ? what information would be of interest to you?
Do you know his 1920's boy paintings? I have most of those, some I have sold to 'Fans'.
When I fathom out how to post photographs I will put some on.

Re: Stanley R Boardman
All so helpful, thank you so much.
There is a little paper back book out ther somewhere that Stan had printed. It told the tale of his paintings and showed a lot of them. There is also a quaint publication 'Down your way' that I have allowed to use some images of his paintings . September 2008 issue had one or two. I have to say again Stan would be amazed if he knew there was even a tiny bit of interest in his work,he always said he would be famous when he was dead!

Re: Stanley R Boardman
That's lovely to hear, what a pity that such appreciation so often happens to artists when they've sadly gone.
Do try with the pics please.

Re: Stanley R Boardman
I have never found any images of his work. 1920's boy,Stan's life around old Keighley has some harsh images of the poverty and hard times after the war. Lots of the paintings reflect the antics of Stan and his mate Kenny Harker, some of which would invoke an A.S.B.O today! Painted in a somewhat caricature style they are not for everyones lounge wall. I have sold one or two to people who knew and loved Stan and they do have them on the lounge wall.

Re: Stanley R Boardman
Here is just a tiny taste of Stan's 1920's boy collection.
My photography does not do them justice but gives you a flavour.
Painted on hardboard in his own unique style they are mostly unframed having been stored for years now.

I think they're fantastic, thanks Beacon. Bisto boys meet bash street kids, and what great pieces of social history.
Is that boy plucking a live chicken though?

Re: Stanley R Boardman
Those were the days! Yes he is and that is not the worse thing they got up to.
There are so many pictures I didn't know which to show. There are many that show parts of Keighley that are no longer standing and a way of life long gone, perhaps a good thing.
