Alan Wallwork

I can remember having a piece quite a while back that had SS and Alan said via John that there were two sisters working there at the time .

Now that you mention that vase Ed it could be that the Sue of ewade's vase is one of the SS sisters. That would mean that the vase is later than Greenwich and from his time at Marnhull.

Oh yes definitely Marnhull , that's what Alan said at the time .

Superb use of colour in this piece creating much more interest than the plain pebbles.
Deep inside the sectioned area there is a thin slit which allows light to penetrate the orb to be mirrored by cleverly placed reflective glaze!!
Undoubtedly my best buy so far this year.

I'll add an image of the Large Split Indented Oval made by Alan at Higher Rocombe during 2001 now that I've sold it. It is 47.6 cm (18.75 inches) tall.

A couple of Wallwork pieces from my collection. The smaller one was purchased in 2009 from the Harlequin. BTW does anyone have news on the Wallwork book that I was told was in development?

how tall are they please?

11 inches and 8 inches. Nor sure the date of the larger one as it was purchased at auction in 2007.

Joethehat would know about any book etc , he was compiling pics etc on Alan Wallwork , he is a member here as is harlequin

Re: The book - not sure it will ever happen. I have tried to advise both parties, who in the last few years have approached Alan about writing a book, but they don't seemed to have listened.

Alan would like a book about himself but will only be happy if it is all his own words. I think he has a point too, as I always find his missives to me amusing even when they are abusive!

These circular tiles are much less common than the 6 inch square tiles and his smaller 4 inch square ones. Is there any marks on the back?

Hi....I should at this point outline what exactly is being done in regards to supplying some information about Alan's pottery.
For many months a website - alanwallwork.info has been under construction. Alan has kindly helped me with this project in order to provide something informative about his work. Although the website won't negate the need for a book, it should have some worth to those interested in his pottery.
Alan dosen't have the time to engage in working on a book, but hopes that the website will suffice.

Once the website has been completed and tested a launch date will be announced.....hopefully soon

They weren't all marked anyway, especially if they have cork backing.

It looks very good in the Lincolnshire sunshine.

recently I found the best way to view it was by torchlight,hidden inside the orb is a wonderful crystaline structure which I find difficult to describe but it looks like turquoise crystal frogspawn with a surface made up of light reflecting facets.






my camera is just point and click standard but at least you can see the colour

While on the subject of Mr. W, I was speaking to JoetheHat on the phone today and, although his AW website isn't completely up and running, there is a slideshow of images of Alan's work, throughout his career, on there at the moment.

I suspect a large number. I seem to remember that Alan had to point it out to me.

the glaze inside mine looks like piled up fogspawn so not exactly runny?

I'm not sure that we need to humour him that much, Old Silvilocks, as he says he is called, might be omnipresent but he's not God.
