Re: Ambleside Pottery
Thanks Ed, only seen the hand etched ones but I guess this was made by being squashed into a mould.

Re: Ambleside Pottery
Hi Denby, could you give me a rough estimation of when it may have been made?
I've found George Cook in the book (cooking the book) Oh dear
But not much info' there.
Would this have been made by George?

I always understood the slipware was more the 50s,
and the sgraffito more the 60s. (closed 1966).

Re: Ambleside Pottery
A couple of early slipware dishes, with the "mesh" imprinted back. Not uncommon, but all
unique in their own way.

I rather like those mugs ... the top one sort of reminds me of Henri Rousseau ...

George Cook
Yay. I missed the date on this item when I saw the photos on ebay. Not only is it signed x2 but there is a 57.
Re: Ambleside Pottery
Lovely bowl Crawford.
I noticed someone was selling photos recently of cook's pottery birds .
Has anyone ever seen one of the Cook birds in the flesh.

Not seen any birds? Did you see a photo?

Only saw the photos on the screen, would love to see/find one of the birds though.

Zip - grab everything you see online with Evernote (PC/iPhone/Android) - it's free! Photos can be so useful and if you have a smartphone then you can check them out on the move or from the pc.

So we can all be envious Zip.
Ambleside?
Originally from ebay. Bought as Ambleside. It has a cheesecloth fabric like texture on the reverse. Otherwise unmarked.
Re: Ambleside Pottery
Could be. Also has a Tibor Reich and Peter Wright look to it.
Love it.
Love it.

I think it must be right, that pie-crust edge is typical, along with the back,
like my dishes here,

Nice bit, wonder why it's not marked?

Re: Ambleside Pottery
Looks like it had an old label stuck to it. Maybe clay was too dry to sign.

Re: Ambleside Pottery
But still some doubt? Again it a probable but not 100%er.
TY for the replies.. I'll live in hope of someone finding something similar that's marked.
