No idea, out of my comfort zone I'm afraid, sorry, however don't you think it has a touch of the Lorna Bailey's about it?!!!

Yes I know what you mean , but feilding were doing this sort of thing in the 1930's ,It was the clarice cliff thing at the time , the fielding deco pieces get big money ,when you can find them ,hence why fakes are about .

Re: Fielding staffs fake or not
I never collected any Fielding when I was into Art Deco (a few years back now) but I have come across it in the past. It'd be interesting to find out more about the fakes and how you can tell. Do you have any other pieces of Fielding? Is the 'Staffordshire England' usually handwritten in that way?

This is the problem Pip, I don't have any more, I remember seing bits years ago that were not mine , in the cushion book of marks it has various marks Fielding impressed and painted then loads with the crown devon group , fielding and co. , S.F &co. the marks on mine are stamped under the glaze .

Re: Fielding staffs fake or not
To me it doesn't look like the lettering any pottery would have used in the deco period.....
Also what are those strange greyish patches on the base, almost like brush marks? It rather looks as if the base might have been tampered with at some stage
