St Ives pot - help with ID

mark
I recently acquired a bowl that was said to be st ives--and it has the exact same mark as OP shows (though mine is unglazed on the exterior). Also shows usual England stamp on OTHER side of bowl (rather than with mark as I have seen in past). Should I assume it is John Leach's work? What conclusion if any might I draw from this odd variation on the Leach mark? (Thank you--this is my first post.)

Re: St Ives pot - help with ID
Scroll down...averting your eyes from the price in case it might be prejudicial, haha. I did correspond with the seller before buying, particularly because of the odd mark...she said a friend of hers had seen these pots at the SI studio in the 60s. At any rate it is a beautiful pot so I went ahead.
Comes off larger, somehow, in person.

Re: St Ives pot - help with ID
Hi, it's a 'Standard Ware' bowl and really no way of telling who actually potted it, probably dates to the 1960s. Standard Ware was produced in relatively large numbers and widely sold throughout the 50s, 60s & 70s.
As I said above there are numerous variations on the SI seal and you can't determine the individual potter from the SI seal alone.

Very good, thanks! Happy that that strange little mark is legit.
(I didn't pay much for it, and as I said I do love it, but do you think that was a fair price in the end?)

Sorry for the slow reply....yes that's a fair price, shame about the rim chips but it's one of the more popular shaped bowls, so you did ok.
