Re: Landshipping Pottery
Hi there, your signiature looks like 'Landshipping' which is a small village on the Cleddau river in Pembrokeshire, although I don't know of any potters there.

Re: Landshipping Pottery
It'd be nice to be right once in a while.
This is a great forum. I only discovered it about a half hour ago and now I'm hooked mooching through all the interesting pots.

Landshipping Pottery (Wales)
This bowl is about 14" in diameter (it's packed up at the moment, but I had put the pictures in my research file) and has a signature that looks very easy but has eluded me for many years. Any thoughts much appreciated.
Thank you

Re: Landshipping Pottery
I have come across one or two small dishes stamped Landshipping Pottery and J.V.
John Virando possibly - though no other indication he ever worked there.
Also :
"Some years ago a pottery business, run from a property in Landshipping, called Woodhouse
Grange, were unable to use the local clay as it proved totally unsuitable for making any pots or plates
as they were all cracked or extremely brittle. They had to buy in all their clay. "

Re: Landshipping Pottery
Interesting
1969 was the Investiture of the Prince of Wales and many potteries were making commemorative ware. Maybe he was employed by the Pottery just for these pieces
