Newbie with inherited vase - Umbrella Jar? Ceramic/glazed - 1950's?
Hi! I'm new to this forum and am hoping some one can give me some information on this floor vase/umbrella jar that my mother had. I truly don't know much about it, other than it has been around since I can remember (35+ years) and my mom always said it was an umbrella jar. Any and all input with respect to time period, style, possible maker, etc is greatly appreciated! The pic of the stamp on the bottom is truly representative of what is left of the stamp.
It stands approximately 20" tall.

The bottom half and the back looks 60-70s Italian, maybe?

it says made in Japan. certainly the style is very typical of Japanese ceramics of the 1930s ish period which mimicked western designs, and the tubelined gold decoration is similar to Noritake (but i'd say the quality of this vase isn't quite up to noritake standard).

Ah, the top half and the front looks Japanese.
Ah, looks like Bistoboy beat me to it (wink wink).

Thanks for all the replies. Big ed was correct about the orientation of the stamp. I took the picture into photoshop, rotated and sharpened it. I could see the "ADE" for Made. Before I read Bistoboy's input I was thinking I saw an "ARK" for part of the other word, which made sense to me at the time since my mom lived in southern MO and she and her relatives travelled there. But then it could have been bought in St. Louis since they spent quite a bit of their lives there. Then I read Bistoboy's input and I definitely see to a's separated by another letter which is probably the "P" he sees. Hence, Japan. I included a newer picture of the stamp with the rotation and sharpness enhanced, just in case anyone can make out any of the letters that go across the top! Thanks all!!!

Well, I looked on Gotheborg but couldn't find any marks that match this one.
Maybe the mark is trying to look like the Nippon rising sun, though the sun would be upside down in this case.
