Brown & Beige Crusty Planter

I've had this planter for a few years and whilst cleaning 
the other day I wondered about its origins.
It has a mark underneath, does anyone have any ideas please?

Thanks Guy. Yes it does look quite similar especially the base, although yours looks 'less rough' < artistic term 
on the outside than mine.
Unless I dreamt it, I think I've seen the squiggly sig scratch on the base of mine (click to enlarge) before somewhere?
