thanks for looking! I've searched AH and HA as well - zilch - (probably because I know little and have no books) nothing on the internet at all.

thanks again Dantheman I appreciate it. I do need to get some books! Would that one be a good one to start with?

I recently bought the 'British studio potters' marks' book by Yates-Owen & Fournier, it's very good if you like studio pottery but it is purely a reference tool, there are examples of the potters' marks and a brief summary of the type of pottery made by that person and where they worked over the years.
big Ed may have more suggestions,I know he has a few pot books

Hmm, the mark is similar but as well as being impressed with a surrounding circle or square his work is said to be lustreware in the book, so I'm not sure. Also, see this link ..

Re: Signed AH mark small grey dish with sea creature painted in it
Thank you! His work is beautiful. But yes, very different to this little dish. However, now you have said it and I have turned it the other way it definitely looks like a VH or an HV rather than an 'AH/HA' . So I will start searching that as well - many thanks!
oh he is local to me as well but I've never seen any of his pieces around unfortunately.
thanks so much I really appreciate your help.
