Mystery desk lamp?

Had this in my collection for over 12 years now, unfortunately it is a bit ding'd but I've never found anything like it in any of my books and wondered if any of you could help ID it? The tightening fittings are made from machine turned aluminium and the bulb holder is a standard bayonet fit?

Looks pretty much spot-on apart form colours obviously. I bought this at a carboot sale about 15 years ago so it is unlikely to be a copy (ie. Repro) as they were not in vogue then? Unfortunately it's a bid sad and needs some TLC, it was one of those items that I just had a feeling about when I bought it. Nice if it is real, flabbergasted at the prices these are making in the States!! Thousands of dollars!
