Blue & White vase with Lion handles
Bought this vase about 15yrs ago at a local car boot sale, there is a blue ink smudge towards the rim which makes me think its a printed design. Its been in my cabinet since the day I bought it, I think it may be a copy of an older piece. It isn't marked. Does anyone know anything about this type of pottery or the design ?

Re: Blue & White vase with Lion handles
this could've have been made the week before you bought it 15yrs ago, or could be a hundred years or so older. Whilst the appears to be some age to the base (going by your photo), it's hard to say for sure without seeing it in the flesh and the other photos make it looks pretty "clean". If it is modern, it's undoutedly a Chinese piece, imitating a much earlier style. But it could also be a piece of German porcelain from the Frankfurt region where they produced wares based on Chinese porcelain. Sorry i can't help any more, perhaps a trip to an auction house would be your best course of action?
Re: Blue & White vase with Lion handles
Although I have always felt that this is an old item, it is as you say very clean, no nibbles or chips even on the handles where you might expect the odd knock if it had been around for any great length of time. I just thought the design of the decoration was very unusual, it seems to have a persian or islamic influence to it. Anyway I've had for 15yrs and I'll be happy to live with it for another 15yrs. Thanks again for the info', much appreciated.
