tea cup and creamer I can't find marking anywhere!

I came across this tea cup and creamer and decided to pick it up. I can see a few letters on the bottom. Looks like "M. L U F"? and a picture of a rearing horse, or maybe lion? in a shield... I looked and looked and need help. It looks hand made and painted. If anyone can help it would be great!

This is almost certainly Italian - the lower word on the right below the shield spells out ITALY as far as I can see. Sorry but I can't help with any other identification of this jug, but someone may be able to narrow it down to a certain area and period, although it looks fairly modern.

Sorry forgot to say that San Mauro is a place in Italy so that may be a clue to this jug's production area
