Images of the mystery pottery I was trying to get help with!
I now know that I am , but thanks to skay, I can now place images of this pottery I have a long tried to identify!! Thank you skay !!!
To reiterate:
To all pottery experts and pottery collectors,
I usually collect blown Art Glass, but came upon this piece of pottery years back and everyone who has seen it, just loves it! That's the reason I purchased it! My wife collects American Haeger pottery and I will pick up a piece now and again, if it really catches my eye!
I have talked to a couple of local people that collect Art Pottery, and they have no idea what this is, only that it is made of red clay!
This must be some kind of Tankard, no? That is all I could come up with trying to research it on-line, so far. The applied branches, leaves, (I believe figs?), as well as the cicada, are all in tact, as you can see. It has a VERY heavy glaze applied to it and it is very heavy over all. It is in mint condition and the only flaws, if that's what you want to call it, is a very small area here and there, left unglazed.
Here are the dimensions: 31 cm high, 20 cm at it's widest, opening is approx. 14 cm OD and 11.5 cm ID on top, the bottom is approx. 20 cm OD and 18 cm ID on bottom. The bottom 1 cm of the piece is unglazed and it is glazed approx. 3.5 - 4.0 from the top on the inside. It weighs in at 7.2 Lbs or 3.27 Kgs.
As you can see from the following photos (which I shall try to attach properly), There are a few telling marks on the bottom, but none that I could make sense of?
If any of my fellow collectors could help me ID this, I would be in your debt for a lifetime! I always told myself, if I ever get on the Antiques Road Show, this is the piece I'd take!
Thank you for any knowledge I can use, ahead of time. I will always try to help others, now that I have some time to spend on the computer, hopefully!
Here are the thumbnails to the images:
Now, at least for this moment, I feel like a reformed idiot!
Again, ANY help with the ID of this, would be greatly appreciated!

This is a fairly recent Chinese piece. I have seen several similar and owned at least one in the past few years.

Thanks
calusa! I was afraid of that. I suppose it is really worthless, as far as value.
Thank you for taking the time to ID it!
