Re: Lamorna pottery (Cornwall)
I have just bought a small pin dish decorated with fish, unfortunately I don't have access to camera at moment. Incised marks to base included marks "DW" LAMORNA COVE. I know that Derek Wilshaw was one of the founders of LAMORNA but I have never seen a piece marked LAMORNA COVE. Is this a different pottery with coincidental initials. . All thoughts appreciated John

Re: Lamorna pottery (Cornwall)
Bought this fish dish years and years ago when I started collecting for a tenner. I was looking at all sorts of stuff, finding my feet. It's big at 440mm x 180mm and I use it in the summer for picnics in Green Park. It's ideal for passing round laden with food.
I tell everyone to be careful as it's an expensive piece

Re: Lamorna pottery (Cornwall)
This is the info I have on the pottery. I think your piece is pre-1970s
Original pottery started by Ella Naper and Kate Westrup in 1920s-1928
1947- started by Christopher (Jimmy) Ludlow and Derek Wilshaw - Based in The Old Milk Factory, Lamorna, Cornwall
1971- run by Peter and Shirley Brown - introduced brown and blue slipcast pottery
1988- run by Ossie Rego
2018- run by Jeremy and Munir Chapman

Via the Pottery's website:
"The Lamorna Pottery was first started by Ella Naper and Kate Westrup and operated in the 1920s. In 1947 Christopher (Jimmy) Ludlow and Derek Wilshaw began production of Lamorna Pottery on it's current site, an old milk factory. Both men trained at Butters Ltd of Stoke on Trent, and were assisted by Bernard Leach and Ella Naper (who gave them her potter's wheel).
In the 1970s the pottery was developed by Peter and Shirley Brown who added the Cafe and developed the blue and brown pottery we still produce.
The current owners Jeremy and Munir Chapman, have brought the pottery production back to the main building"
