think it's up side down and reads Italy. It's hardly to find out an Italian maker, it the piece isn't marked.

Yes, well spotted Frillo. I wasn't sure if that was a h or a y, but assumed the flourish/swirl would be below the signature. As you say if it is ITALY (which it does look like) it would be hard to narrow down.
