This looks similar to Tonala Mexico - but I could be wrong, of course

You might be correct but I always see some blue on Tonala pieces and this artwork is a bit different and also doesn't most Tonala pieces say "Mexico" on it?

Yes - as you say there is usually an element of blue, but there is always the chance that this particular artist wanted to be different - and yes MEXICO is often painted on the items. As I said previously I could be wrong - let's see if anyone else comes up with a suggestion.

So you were right after all! Thanks for the ID.
Someone else on another site confirmed that it was Tonala indeed, more specifically Jorge Wilmot, circa 1960s. The "W" mark is for his last name I guess.
