W German "pots" (fat lava)
About 15 years ago I read an article in a Homes & something magazine regarding a lady who had collected a number of 1960s/70s W German vases. She was photographed next to her collection which was displayed on shelves in the alcove of her Victorian home. The article reckoned that these pots would be antiques of the future and worth collecting.
I should mention that when I was first married, a couple of these pots were on sale at our local hardware shop. I admired them but I never had the spare cash to buy one. I have frequented boot sales ever since they started in the North East fifteen years ago and I noticed that W German pots were turning up regularly - all sizes, shapes and colours. Before long, I had amassed over 250, a third of which were large (40-50cm). To cut a long story short, I had to downsize due to house moves and now have four W German pots left - the best of all the bunch - and I would like to share with you their beauty. The blue/brown "peacock" vase is BAY 60 40, the two bigger orange pots do not show the maker, large 284-40 med 517-30. There are marks on the underside of the small "gourd" pot which are indistinct due to bubbling. I am going to post the pots in the ID section with base marks separately. I think certainly the "peacock" vase is unique and all four are GORGEOUS!
I also show a red-topped Austrian pot 4227-22. The printing on the gold scroll is "Fine Quality Austrian Pottery foreign". Is Austrian pottery considered of more value than W German? Vizibell
ps Cat's called Kim - he's French.

WG Pots - Does size count?
Has anyone got a bigger one than me? Here's my huge pot, ref 282/48 (cm) in olive green. Not the prettiest of colours but it was a very popular colour in the late 60s early 70s. [I remember I had an all white bathroom, which I hated, so I added olive green patterned tiles as a splashback to the hand basin and I tiled the bath panel to match.]
I've shown you mine now let's see yours.

Re: W German "pots" (fat lava)
Well , there is a Rooke lampbase measuring 80 cm , but that's 12 pieces , so probably doesn't count .

Re: W German "pots" (fat lava)
It was intended to be that tall when Rooke made it so I can't see why not
