Any info please on "peasant ware" pottery
I have this 7 1/4 inch tall vase decorated with a stylish leaf pattern. To me the style looks 1930s- 50s but I could easily be wrong on that. Base is marked "Peasant ware" plus initial GV. I can't find any trace of this anywhere and wonder if it has any age or is a retro style modern piece. All suggestions and thoughts appreciated John

Re: Radford Handcraft Pottery, Burslem. (E. Radford).
I'm inclined to think it's fairly early Radford.
If it is, then it's not a mark or pattern I've ever seen before.

Re: Radford Handcraft Pottery, Burslem. (E. Radford).
Have now been in touch with http://www.radfordcollect.com/ who were very helpful and have confirmed that this is by E. Radford and that the Peasant and also Gay Peasant labels were used for a short time. They have included a photo with a Radford backstamp in the same pattern.
The other marks on my original photo are GV being pattern mark and the # mark being that of an unknown paintress.
All in all a good result I think

Radford
Hi!
I bought this lovely pot yesterday.. it's my thing.. I buy what I like and then enjoy researching it when I get home to find out as much as possible!
I think it's an earlier Radford pot and I know WG is the pattern.. but does anyone know what the second G is for or the little triangle?
Any Radford enthusiasts who can help me please? Anything you know would be great and much appreciated! Theres not a huge amount to find out online (I've been looking and looking all yesterday)
I dont like to be defeated! Ha!
Many thanks!

Re: Radford Handcraft Pottery, Burslem. (E. Radford).
This is commonly called E Radford. Pre-war, and a fairly common pattern.
Probably a decorators mark.
The factory records were destroyed in a fire, so there is not much info on this stuff.

Thank you! No wonder I cant find much out when looking! I mean I found a record of patterns but dates are quite vague.
I'm happy with my little pot anyway! I only bought it for 75p!
Thanks again!
