Mousehole pottery, Biddy & Bill Picard (Cornwall) Empty Mousehole small jug?

Post by Jakjo December 27th 2011, 9:32 am

Is this small eartenware jug (height 10 cm) from Mousehole Pottery in Mousehole, West Cornwall and made in the first period 1955-61 by Bill and Biddy Picard?

Thank you,

The mark shown in The Digital Museum of Cornish Ceramics is the one used by Greta Perry between 1978 and 1989.

I can clearly see the mouse head and the hole in the wall.

Mousehole pottery, Biddy & Bill Picard (Cornwall) Empty Mousehole Pottery - Bill or Greta Picard?

Post by Beege August 21st 2019, 2:10 pm

Hallo all.
I'm pretty confident this small pot is from the Mousehole Pottery (Bill/Biddy Picard and later their daughter Greta Perry)), but can anyone tell me which of these craft persons actually made the bowl? Is there something in the style which distinguishes each potter?
Thank you.
Jack.

Thats interesting Naomi. I thought this pot couldn't be too old.
Unfortunately Fournier suggests this impressed mark was used in 1954 on domestic ware.

Any ideas about this rather odd mark, looks like a face rather than letters/shapes?

All suggestions gratefully received.
